Trekking by rail to Nanning

Hi!
My name is David and I am traveling by train across Europe and Asia. I'll be in Beijing a few hours to change trains for Nanning then onto Hanoi and would like to meet and have lunch with someone who speaks English, or anybody actually, who might be traveling as well toward Hanoi and heading south on the Iron Rooster, and share your thoughts.
