Heading to Colombia for more tha a month

So where to begin.

I live in Costa Rica – man has it changed for the worse. Cost of living up (not that I am short on money but still), people have lost their smiles here. It’s becoming materialistic and although I am single and not bored the quality of people I meet uniterests me because of the campasina culture. Even in San Jose there seems to be a lack of sophistication. I have met many Colombians here and they have a different feel about them. So I am going to take a trip there of a couple of months.

Where should I start? I do want to attend Colombiatex in January as I am thinking of doing something in the clothing biz just for a reason to be there. Don’t really need the money but I can’t just hang out and do nothing like many seem to be able to do. I have two reasons to live and one is work.

Pointers? How long is the tourist visa. 90 days like CR?

BTW I am in my 50s, single and a pretty well traveled writer. Lived on and off in Cuba and Costa Rica for many years. From California.

One thing I don’t like about Costa Rica is the nontraditional values. Women here seem to be very, ah ah masculine??? (in a good way kind of). I would like to find a stay at home companion type of woman. Are they more “wife” oriented there? I am no fool and I get it believe me, but CR seems to be such a cheap knock off of the feminist movement that I find it too much like the US. I am not trying to offend, but I think being taken care of is a good gig if you can get it? Is that appreciated there or is it the “I am looking for fulfillment outside the home” kinda of thing.

Cars and cost of living etc? How is that.
What form of transpo should I use while I am there? When I go to the US I buy a beater off craigs list and later resell it.

I hear its mountainous and driving is let’s say “thrilling?”

Hey thanks in advance for any info. I really appreciate it.
