another visiting visa question

so i went to medellin for the first time last week... loved it... want to go back again in october...
my question is... you get a 90 day visa when you arrive... when i leave is that cancelled out then when i return i get another one... i only was there for about 9 days... of do i only get a 90 day window per year? or how does it work... thanks
