Room for rent or economical safe hotel

I will be flying into Medellin in early November for a week to get my cedula. Does anyone have an extra room they are willing to rent for a week or an idea for staying at a safe but economic hotel in Medellin. This is my first time to Medellin but hope in the future to retire here. I would like to get my feet wet and get ideas from those who live here on transitioning from the US to Medellin. Thanks
