Another great learning experience folks. After transferring a good bit of money to my new Colombian bank account, the bank official could not even be troubled to confirm receipt of the money one week later. Next I learned it would be necessary personally to call the currency people at the bank to NEGOTIATE the rate of exchange with them before the dollars could be converted into CO Pesos! Fortunately, my lawyer is on hand to act as intermediary for this "negotiation." I wouldn't have a clue! Is it like negotiating for a used car? Plus it must be done immediately in order to meet the contract payment terms as it will take several days to complete the currency conversion. Another learning experience.
