Drivers License/Bank Accounts

As time is drawing closer for our move I keep researching. I am hearing two different stories about both drivers license and bank accounts. On D/L' I hear you can't drive with a Colombian license and then the next article I read says you can drive on your US license for six months. On bank accounts I hear you can't open an account until your cedula has been issued and then I hear just the opposite. I am sure I can find out a lot of this in May when we go to Fusa but just looking for some advance information if anyone has some. Thanks for all the information provided earlier.
