Hola, I'm an American looking to retire to Colombia and need some advice. I love hot weather and prefer to be near the beach (I spent 11 years within a 5-minute drive of the Mediterranean, so you get my desired location). I assume I want something on/near the Caribbean coast (am I right in that?). I'd like a place that isn't inundated with too much rain during the rainy season, if possible, and that is affordable for someone on a limited income as I'm widowed. My step-daughters (and their expanding families) will visit me from time to time. They'll want to stay at a hotel on the beach when they come visit, of course, so I don't need a large place.
I'm looking for a 1-bedroom flat to start off with and I'll plan to explore the surrounding areas looking to buy a flat in a couple of years. My Spanish is weak but I'm starting lessons now. That said, I've worked abroad since 1986, lived for most of two decades in Europe and west Asia, and have worked on every continent but Antarctica, so I'm used to fighting my way through language
issues. I'm not intimidated by using translation apps, dictionaries, and having people laugh as I speak Spanglish to them.
My biggest desire is to find a place that has a public golf course nearby, if I can. Golf is my favorite outside activity, so I'm hoping to find a reasonably priced course in the vicinity of my new home.
Thanks for any help the Community can supply. Cheers!
