Hi all, it is a bit of a hypothetical at this point, but something I may need to get ahead of down the road. Almost a couple decades back I married a Colombiana in the states. I think she may have registered the marriage in Colombia, but I'm not too sure. I divorced her a while back, and don't want to tip my hand to her regarding my new lady by asking her about the registered marriage, so I may need to investigate myself. I have a new lady now and if down the road I were to marry her in Colombia, I wouldn't want the first "registered marriage" to interfere with the second one.
How would I investigate if I am still legally married in Colombia? Is there such a thing as a registered marriage in Colombia, when married in the states? If I am somehow legally married according to Colombian records, how long is the process to change that status? Is it even worth bothering with?
Thanks,
