Expat Group are telling me that my proof-of-pension documentation, issued in the UK, has to be apostilled and translated. This is a real pain in the ass as I happen to live in Panama, not the UK.
While the relevant bit of Resolution 5477 de 2022 MRE (Art.77) says “Certification that authenticates monthly payment of lifetime pension … issued by a competent body, duly apostilled and translated…”, it also says that Art. 21 applies. This states that “Certifications and bank statements can be submitted without apostille or legalization and without official translation into Spanish when their content is in one of the official languages of the Organization of American States (OAS)” - which include English – and provided all of it can be clearly understood by the Visas and Immigration Authority.
So the ministry is kidding??
Any words of wisdom gratefully received.
