Doctors, Nurses, Medical - Costa Rica.

Hello all, Cruz in Costa Rica again..

I've been seeing a number of questions and getting emails on the subject of US and Canadian's with medical background getting work in Costa Rica.

I will get back next week with some phone numbers and details, but I have friends that have been patients at the top Hospitals here in the Central Valley, and they said they were (sometime) treated by Doctors/Nurses that came here from the United States/Canada, so i am sure it can be done, let me chase down more detail for the forum. I personally have been blessed with excellent health, so while I have taken advantage of some amazing dentists in Costa Rica, better then I ever had "up north" at 30% of the cost, I have never spent a day in a hospital, either here or "up north". I am sure just good genes and the benefits of the healthier living in Costa Rica for the last 9 years. So I need to get the details from others with personal knowledge and get back to the forum.

Our Community that I mentioned in a previous post (Perfect Central Pacifico Mountain-Ocean View Location) is already getting 2 new Family's into the system here professionally that have Medical backgrounds. One is a Red Cross Trainer from Canada, and the other a Gentlemen and his wife from the US that want to return to the idea of an"old country doctor" serving our growing community.

Everyone should do their own research, but just google "Medical Tourism in Costa Rica" for work ideas, as it is already a healthy industry in Costa Rica, with literally thousands of Canadian/US/Europeans flying to Costa Rica for 1 reason, because they can get world class medical services, from serious treatments for major ailments, to top cosmetic/dental/vision surgery..at 1/5 to /13 of what they would pay back home. And I expect this trend to continue growing by double digits the coming years, as the substantial economic benefits and high quality of medical service become more widely known. The #1 Hospital for foreigners is CIMA in Escazu, and they are opening a second Hospital up in Guanacaste, announced last year.
