Finding my Pura Vida

Hello everyone! This is my first post and I am so excited to be doing this! I am posting to find out a little bit of information from some seasoned expats. I am looking at relocating myself and my son to CR. I have fallen in love with the Uvita area due to the outdoor activities, small community, school and hospital. Uvita seems to have it all in my eyes, or at least all we need. A little history on our situation. My wife passed away during child birth with my son 5 years ago. We now collect SS money in the amount of approx. $1100 a month for the next 11 years and then half of that for another 3 years. I am not sure if this actually qualifies me for the pensionista citizenship or not. I would love if someone could answer that one for me. Also, I would like to work part time while I am there. Is this all at possible? Everything I have read thus far points to a big fat NO! Are there opportunities for employment while living as an expat in CR? What sort of things do you guys do to earn money? Own your own business? Online business? Are there opportunities for expats to take a loan to start a business? Truthfully, I want nothing more than to move to a place where my son and I can be together, learn together, grow together, have adventures together, and not be bothered by the American way of thinking. Is there any route available to get us down there? I would like to find our Pura Vida.
