Weight Gain & Health

Somehow 'Pool Noise' subject got on rabbit trail to Health Issues, so thought we could start a new one.

Playas de Coco (Pombinha?)- I know how easy it is to gain weight. And I have seen many Gringos and Ticos that seem to be getting bigger every day.

When I was in Ohio for 8 yrs, I was not happy for many reasons, and went from 120 to 150. Then when we moved to Florida, it went down about
13 lbs due to me working in the garden and painting the house and in general, happier.

But my weight got stuck at that amount and would not budge. I had never joined Weight Watchers but I did, and it was the plan that helped me. There are no meetings in Grecia, but I do everything else.

The people who lose on it and gain it back are those that stop doing it. I have never been successful in maintaining my weight for any length of time without tracking quantities daily. And also weighing daily.

Many people think it too big a hassle to track quantities. But it is no different than having to budget and keep track of your money.

It definitely beats blowing up and having several sizes of clothes and being unhealthy due to weight gain.

I used to do calories, but the WW point system is a lot easier. When I came to CR 2-1/2 yrs ago, my weight was 127,. But because we choose not to have a car, and walk daily up and down hills to town, my weight ended up 120-122.

You can eat just a little too much every day, and your weight will go up and up.

In reverse, you can cut down a little consistently and your weight will go down.

You will feel a lot better and actually enjoy your food more than when you eat too much. I still love food, and eat ice cream, a little dark chocolate etc. But I do not allow it to control me.

Pura Vida y Salud!
