Working and living on a visa

There is quite a bit of conflicting information online between blogs and different websites I am looking for insight from actual expats. I would be moving from the US if that is relevant.

1. There is several blogs that state a farm with abundance can sell at the local farmers market even on a visa, however others say this is not legally allowed without residency. Can someone lead me to an accurate source of information on selling surplus raw goods or finished goods while on a visa vs as a resident. (Legally, I will not and do not want to do anything illegal whether it is heavily enforced or not.) This would NOT be a primary source of income just an added income as I want to have a small farm.

2. I already have a completely remote source of employment in the US. However, several articles I have read have mentioned power outages and not just short ones but some that can last for days. Is there an opportunity for solar power style or other alternatives (generators) for when there is outages (I understand they might be more costly for an initial move).

3. While I would like to be able to visit the populated areas I am more inclined toward small town living and a slower pace than city life. What are some of the better places to live that would provide that feel but without sacrificing things like internet (required for my work) and at least somewhat consistent power. As well as being relatively safe with good common sense and situational awareness. As for climate I would rather have the warmer temperatures year round even if that means a little more rain or bugs/ critters I am fine with either. My research so far keeps leading me back to Guanacaste specifically the Bagaces area but I am open to other suggestions.

Thank you for any insight that can be provided.
