Transferring USD to BNCR account

I have a BNCR account, but no DIMEX. The identification for the account is my US passport id.

Transferwise doesn't support CR accounts with a US passport as identifier (if I remember correctly; I have tried a few similar services).

I have tried xoom, but transactions fail. After months of trying and failing, they were able to show me that my bank account needed some sort of authorization on my account. I am not in CR right now, so I haven't done this yet. Not sure if I could get BNCR to authorize it over the phone.

I was using paypal affiliation through bncr which was the cheapest way I found to do the transfer, but that isn't working anymore. Though I can see the affiliate account through bncr, transfers dont work any more. My guess is because my debit card is currently expired.

xendpay doesn't support USA residents yet.

I haven't found a great wire transfer service yet; though I am trying to see if I can get my bank to use BNCR for the currency conversion. My bank will do international wire transfers for $10, but the conversion rate is not great. I wish I had set up a an account in USD at BNCR as well which would help with this.

Whats the best way to transfer money from USA to BNCR if I don't have a local (CR) id?

Thanks!
