Hi All!
As I'm scheduling our annual septic tank pumping here in rural Ohio, I'm wondering about waste water management in the central valley and in Perez Zeledon. My husband's particular type of weight loss surgery causes him not to metabolize fats in food, which is a challenge to even a good US septic system. Our solution here is regularly scheduled tank pumping, because otherwise it will back up at the absolute least convenient time (Easter, Christmas, Friday evening of a three day weekend, middle of an ice storm... seriously!).
In an ideal world, we would find a retirement place with municipal waste treatment, but I understand that's not widespread in Costa Rica.
So, are septic pumping services available? We're looking at potentially living either in the suburbs of San Jose or near San Isidro de El General, looking for the balance of moderate climate and access to services, on a modest budget with Tico style housing.
Or are there affordable areas that have good waste treatment plants?
It may seem like a crazy criteria for choosing a home, but trust me, fighting with septic systems for the past 17 years hasn't been fun... ?
We're spending a month visiting potential retirement locations this May, so I am doing as much research ahead as I can. Thanks!
