Remember, some areas in Cyprus are still holiday resorts and exist on tourism rather than outside industry. Paphos, Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni and Polis mostly come under this umbrella. Whereas Larnaca, Limassol and Nicosia also have thriving business districts with offshore companies offering diverse opportunities.
Work can be gained in the tourist sectors such as local travel agencies, hotels, bars and restaurants but the work is mostly seasonal and staff do get laid off after October has gone with only a skeleton staff remaining to cover the winter months. Work in the tourist industry is known for being low paid.
Try to do as much research as possible for employment opportunities before choosing the area.
If you plan to come as a permanent retiree and have your funds in place, then - Cyprus is your oyster and you can choose any place you like from the top of the mountains to a place by the sea!
