Danish Schools?

We are from the US and my husband has been offered a job in the Herning area. We have 2 small children ages 3 and 6. My main question is about schooling for the 6 year old. None of us know any Danish. In the states, both children attend a Montessori school. Since he just turned 6 in June, in the US he would be entering 1st grade (or lower elementary in a Montessori school). From what Im reading on the Danish education system, he would not start 1st grade untill after he turns 7  can anyone confirm that? If that is true, what kind of schooling would he go to this year? How would they deal with the language barrier?

Has anyone else had a similar situation with the language barrier of an older child, and if so, how did you work through it?
