Immigration wants evidence of...

I'm American, and I got a job in Copenhagen. My employer has already jumped through the hoops & sent really nice letters about my qualifications & how they'd been looking for 6 months for somebody for my position - and they want *ME*!

Now, after already requesting & being sent things - immigration says they want proof that they "actively searched" for 6 months in the entire EU. How in the world are they supposed to prove that?

Is this something like the last hoop to see how serious they are about hiring me? Has anybody else encountered this? Is there some special wording we need to use or do I need to consider an immigration lawyer or?

Any advice?

Thanks!
