Would like to relocate to Denmark

Hello, I am a US citizen and I have decided that I want to move to Denmark.

I happen to be in love with a danish man and I also want to move for other personal reasons.

However, I am totally lost at what to do or how to do it! I found the Denmark websites about what to do when I get there...but what do I do about my stuff in the US?

1. My house. I own a house but I cannot sell it as I owe more on it than its worth because of the crappy market right now. Can I keep it? Can I rent it out? What are the tax implications?

2. Do I have to notify any organization or department in the US that I will be leaving?

3. Bank accounts...do I need to get rid of my US accounts? And what about my debt? Can I keep student loans and things?

4. How do you move belongings overseas?

5. I have two cats... I read that I have to contact someone in denmark to examine them or something when I get there?

I started looking for a job in Denmark... I assume that is the best first start this process? My boyfriend and I have also discussed getting married as a good way to push the immigration process? Also, if I were to get pregnant by him....would there be anything with that that would complicate things?

I work in IT as a database developer and can do a variety of IT based jobs... so, I am on the positive list.

Also, would it be feasable to think I could move to denmark by early next year?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

Roxanne
