Expat friends in Ecuador, buenas tardes.
I hope that you're all very well.
This topic is about rural living in Ecuador, because I hope to move my family to a lovely rural place there.
We're hoping that you dear folks can help us out, finding the right spot.
Does any of you live in the rural places, not English-speaking, maybe ranching/farming country? Or, do you know others who have found places like that?
We'd like to be where there are fewer "planes, trains and automobiles", if you know what I mean.
It would be really nice if my children could grow up learning how to ride horses and do work, and speak Español as well as English.
Are some places safer, while others are more dangerous?
Is there beautiful countryside, with ample water for those who will dig a well, or springs? And where one can afford to work some land and build a little home?
Perhaps some ranchers would like some norteamericano tenants, with a little work thrown in, to boot?

I hope to fly to visit la Republica del Ecuador in the next couple of months, and I would really love to have some leads before I arrive.
