Our minds are pre-set by nature to presume that I am right and everyone else is wrong. This tendency is usually, not always, inversely proportional to one’s educational level. When there is disagreement in argument more than often ones emotion is triggered to win the debate in any possible method. Most popular tactics I see are “I saw on the TV” and “some one who is such such person said so”. Any cause and effect analysis or reasoning type of public debates are non existent in TV program or political debate because their main objective is to stimulate audiences’ emotion to increase the ratings. It is entertainment rather than finding the truth.
I’ve been watching this forum quite for a while and finding more entertainment value than facts. It is like watching the heated debate between two political parties with screaming voice. Each person pitches in closed end question or answer. There are only few regular participants and some are neutral. Win or die is the dominant attitude. The truth is there does not exist any persuasiveness.
Unlike the real estate middle man who needs only very few prey out of million population to make decent profit, this forum should be able to build consensus with majority reader and subscriber. But it is like Jerry Springer style of fist fighting comedy so far. I can not draw any conclusion whether Ecuador is crime ridden dangerous country or not by watching recent debate in this forum. But there is very positive side in that debate. I hope this debate discourage future real estate speculators and investors which are more harmful to local economy than beneficial and invites only those who are willing to respect and mingle with local and be part of Ecuadorian community.
