Couldn't Help But Chuckle...

...when I saw this headline, today:

PROMISES, PROMISES: A closed meeting on openness

By SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – "It's hardly the image of transparency the Obama administration wants to project: A workshop on government openness is closed to the public.
The event Monday for federal employees is a fitting symbol of President Barack Obama's uneven record so far on the Freedom of Information Act, a big part of keeping his campaign promise to make his administration the most transparent ever. As Obama's first year in office ends, the government's actions when the public and press seek information are not yet matching up with the president's words."

In another act of "Do what we say, not we do"...the U.S. leaves me scratching my head. Hard to see why we, as a nation, have a reputation for "hypocrisy" in the global community. And while it *is* an AP Wire story - and many of you know how little I think of the AP Wire - I do bring the story up for consideration, because it looks like Ecuador is inching forward with the slowly evolving new Telecommunications Act. I am sure much will be heard - both positive and negative (I will continue my previous postings on it, when something looks like it is headed to definitive final). I just wanted to begin posting something of a somewhat "light note" to begin to fill in a proper global perspective.
