Blackberry-Ecuador

Hello to everyone.
My husband gave me a Blackberry Tour for XMAS ... Verizon assured him that it will work in Ecuador .... but I looked up the information online and see that the 'Tour' is not on the list .... but the BlackBerry Storm is .... does anyone have knowledge of this .... I was going to activate the phone tomorrow .... but really want to make sure. It is an expensive toy that would be excessive for my home use (here in Taos), if I can't use it in Ecuador.
