Hi all
I am a 'newbie' here. My partner and I are at that point in our lives where we are looking at alternatives and are considering relocating and living in Ecuador.
Obviously a visit is the first course of action. But she and I are also doing online research and have found a plethora of information on sites like international living, live and retire overseas.com and more. I wonder if anyone could provide me some feedback as to how accurate/useful these manuals/guides are. International living has an owner's manual for Ecuador ($69).
I find these sites tend to paint a rosy picture of Ecuador (and just about everywhere) which is the reason for my question.
I think I am particularly concerned about the safety/crime factor as well as the cost of living... how realistic is it to actually live on less than $700 a month (asssuming you own your home)? Is this pie in the sky or is this close to reality? We are considering living in or near Cuenca.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
