constructing your own home in Ecuador

I believe that all the other expats, if they are building in Ecuador hire a a local builder.My husband and I figured we have all the time in the world and can sub the work ourselves.
i am having difficulty finding windows high quality windows?
Anyone gone through the building process ?Any info would be appreciated
The neares towns are Manta and Portoviejo.Guayaquil is only 3-4 hours away.we are also looking for European bathroom tubs /toilet/bidet set.
