Thieves, traveling, and safety.

Having read what Boncur says about having to live on the property 25 hours a day when building makes one wonder what kind of people are in Ecuador. Does that much equipment and supplies simply sprout legs and walk away when one is not watching? If someone had a truckload of supplies such as windows, doors, cement, building blocks, and rebar dropped off at the building site during the day; should one expect most or all of that to disappear during the night if nobody stayed there to watch it?
Do you ever see anyone have tools and supplies in the back of his pickup, together with a spare tire and tire jack, just parked on a parking lot while he is inside shopping and eating? Would it be a common thing to have those items stolen if someone fails to watch them? Do people ever leave their pickup on the street at night loaded with tools, supplies, and a spare tire?
Of course we know there are thousands of people in the USA who live in their motorhome, travel trailer, or other RV for many months of the year as they travel from place to place. Are there even such things as travel trailers, motorhomes or RVs in Ecuador?
Are there people who would sleep in the car while traveling from place to place in Ecuador?
Do you see many people in Ecuador travel the country just on a bicycle and who sleep in a tent at night?
Is it safe just to pitch a tent to stay on the beach overnight or for a week or two?
Are the beaches public property? How far from the water do the beaches become private land?
Is it common to see people steal cars? Do they often break into cars to steal the stereo and suchlike things?
Is it safe to leave things outside in the yard or patio such as furniture, shovels, rakes, a garden tractor or other tools, especially if you do not live behind a fence?

I thank those in advance who will respond,

Patrick Henry
