I'm picking out a sub-topic from another thread, because I think it deserves separate attention. Let's talk about recycling in Ecuador.
I just cannot bring myself to throw in the trash anything that could be recycled, so I have been putting all cardboard, paper, glass and plastic in my bodega until I can figure out how/where it can be recycled. Obviously I will need to figure this out eventually, as I have limited space in my bodega.
So if anyone has any information on this, please share. I live in Quito and would be willing to take recyclables elsewhere every once in a while if need be. I will be investigating this on my own as well (have not had time to focus on it until now) and will of course share any useful information.
Btw, I found biodegradable trash bags in SuperMaxi/MegaMaxi, and I think in Mi Comisariato as well. They are called La Ecologica and they are green. The package says they will degrade in 12-36 months, depending upon the environment.
Thanks in advance,
JayRock
