residency - dependant question

We have been scouring the consulate site trying to understand the different residency visas we can apply for. It seems as though my husband fits most accurately into the pensioner status with me as his dependent. He has fixed income that we can provide a source for. I on the other hand would be receive an Economical Dependence Visa. With this type of visa for me what would happen if something happened to Bob? Would I continue to hold a visa or would I be asked to leave? Reapply under another status or ???? Does anyone know?
