Just got home

Hi all: Colleen and I just got back from a wonderful 2 weeks in Ecuador.
We started with a day in Quito and wandered around the old town and really enjoyed it.
Flew to Manta on the 18th and bussed to San Clemente to the Palmazule and did a real estate tour for the next couple of days covering the area between Manta and Bahia. on the 21st we went north of Bahia through Canoa up to Coco Beach.
The next day we were on our own and took a car south from Bahia to San Lorenzo. Stayed at a great little place called La Cueva. It had nice little cabins, hot water in the shower, a restaurant and the owner George and his family spoke English.
We hopped the bus the next day and headed into Puerto Cayo. Had a bad experience with the Luz de Luna hotel there so we packed up the day we got there and climbed on a bus and headed into Puerto Lopez.
This was a nice little town and the place we stayed at, The Mandala was amazing. Run buy a wonderful Expat couple. Beautiful little cabins and only 33/night. We spent 2 nights there and then hopped the bus to La Libertad. We spent about 4 nights with Susan exploring the Salines and La Libertad areas. We really liked this are and will probably stay here our next trip down.
We hopped the bus again and we were off to Guayaquil for the night. The volcano shut down the airport so back on to a bus for the 5 hr ride to Cuenca. We were not originally planning on going to Cuenca but we heard good things about it and we are really glad that we decided to go. What a beautiful city with a great vibe. It is now a tough choice as to whether to live in Salines area or Cuenca. I think the ocean will win out though.
From Cuenca we flew back to Quito and spent our last day at the equator and area.
We would like to thank all those we met and helped us while we were there.
Susan, you were a great host and we thank you for answering the many questions we had. Thanks to Amy and Michael for showing us around. There were many more that we met and picked their brains but I am sorry I can't think of all the names.
Ecuador is a wonderful country with great people. We will definitely be back.
Cheers
Bill & Colleen
