Clearing Customs In Guayaquil

I would like to pose a question to any of you with experience of bringing a container of HHgoods from the US to Cuenca, EC. My wife and I hired a shipper in the US for door to door delivery to Cuenca. The container arrived in Guayaquil on April 29. Tomorrow after 9 weeks and $2800 in cash the container will arrive at our residence.

Do you think this is a reasonable? And if it isnt what should it have been?

We have been asked by others who are contemplating moving here whether they should sell everything and just bring what they can on a plane or bring their HHgoods.
