Banking in Ecuador

It's been awhile since I have posted anything here, but I have been reading everything on this site daily for about six months. It is truly a great source of information for my wife and me as we make plans to come down and check things out. I would appreciate ideas on the best way to access our money from the USA. We will both have our pensions and renting in Ecuador for awhile to see ALL of the country before deciding on where to buy. We will not be looking to start a business or seeking employment there. We do plan to get involved in some volunteer project(s) we deem to be worthy causes, of which I am sure there are many. Thanks in advance for your replies.
