How much luggage?

I was told by American airlines I can take 2 - 50lb bags free toEcuador. They also told me I could take 3 more at $100 each. My question is will Ecuador let me come in with 5 bags or will they tax me? Also, is it better to bring 2 or 3 and pack them to 70lbs each? I wantg to bring as much as possible since I will not be shipping and I am retiring to Ecuador. I will travel from Maimi to Guiyakil
