I am currently living and working in Saudi Arabia, but am looking to get out this year. I am looking at coming to Cuenca with the idea of doing two things: starting a small business and teaching English. I am looking into buying either a 4-5 bedroom old house or a 4-5 bedroom condo in or near the histotical district. I can afford between 100-150K US. I would live in the housecondo and run it as a small 2-3 bedoom guesthouse. I have a few questions that I hope people living in Cuenca can answer:
1) Can anyone recommend any reputible agents. I am already in touch with one agent, but don't know their reputation. Is there any way to check this?
2) Is 100-150K reasonabile for what I want to purchase?
3) Is a small guesthouse either for tourists and/or local students a realistic business idea for Cuenca or are there already too many of these?
4) Can anyone provide contacts to reputable schools/universities that would hire an English teacher with an MA in TESOL.
5) Is there a gay community in Cuenca? If so can anyone provide information/contacts on this?
6) What is involved in starting a small business in Cuenca? Is this an easy thing to do?
7) I have read that you can live comfortably on 700-1000 dollars per month as a single person. Is this realistic
