EC's Education and other . . .

Sorry if others have to read this, but maybe it's better that they do so we can lay at least one controversial issue to rest.

Ameridorian, Listen up! Please!

The quality of education that maybe, 10% of the population receive in EC is decent. That's the pattern in many Third World Countries in Central and South America. The privileged and the wealthy always seem to be able to get decent, to good education, wherever they live. One simply can't generalize from the success of the very few, and apply that success standard throughout the Country. I am glad your daughter received a good education, but my general comments were not directed at the privleged who have access to good schools, it's the other 90% we (someone?) needs to be concerned about.

EC's Education ranks 73rd internationally of 87 Countries in the Study I reviewed. Is that good? For the average Ecuadorian, access to high school and college is much more limited. In fact, it is being said that the development of human capital is being limited by EC's educational system.

Then, there are the natives; the farmers from the hills and mountains that work their butts off. Those people are dreadfully poor and make up over 50 percent of the population when you throw in the non-natives who are poor as well.

These Children get next to nothing! with respect to an education! Many (most?) can't even speak Spanish, and that is a travesty. So, don't even suggest there's any equality of education among the rank and file Ecuadorians. Tough to paper this one over.

The fact that EC is so poor, and that so many, many people live in dire poverty, is a major reason that EC is not progressing like it should, in so many ways. (More about that later.)
The poverty-education link is also a reason why EC is not very attractive to foreign investments; not to mention its' poor infrastructure. A lack of a quality education for a broad segment of children is another reason that innovation and creativity are severely lacking. Most of the poor kids don't have a chance to learn the skills so necessary to succeed in life.

The Social Class Sytem that everyone tell's me about, is characterized by the apparent fact that the poor, middle, and rich don't mix. Everybody lives in their own little enclaves or ghettos. That fact alone, should should have set off alarm bells. Who wants to provide a good education for the poverty stricken? An education can be a dangerous thing; why they might, "get smart," and wonder why they too, can't have a better life. Heaven forbid! they should want a larger slice of the pie, and we can't have that, now can we.?! Good Eduction? Hell, half the population doesn't get enough to eat; lack proper shelter, and have no health care.

I'm done here on this topic. However, there are many other facts about EC that some of you may want, and need to know.
