Visa/immigration question-naught past

I see that the new requirements list a criminal check for all visas.. I have a couple dui's and a pot possession from years ago (like 10-20 years) no violence, theft, etc. just young and dumb stuff, misdemeanors. Does anyone have any insight as to how this will be received by the authorities when I apply? I am licensed in two states as an RN, both saw past my past, so to say. I am hoping the Ecuadorian gov't will do the same. thanks
