You still can find deals in both Salinas and Manta, but one hidden gem on the coast I'd recommend with beautiful, under-priced beachfront property with potential for appreciation is the town of Playas.
Playas is located between Salinas and Guayaquil on the southern coast of Ecuador about an hour to an hour and a half from Guayaquil (the largest city of Ecuador).
Domenick from Ecuador Insider has the following to say about Playas:
Playas is dry and for most of the year has a "Southern Californian brown" to it, but it does have some great surfing (in season), mild yet warm weather, low prices, and a nearby golf course (rare in Ecuador)!
I am searching for the perfect coastal area for my retirement. Number 1 on the list is Salinas but I am now interested in learning more about Playas.
Any Expats living there who are willing to share their exoeriences and impressions?
