Getting to Quito from Manta

Hi folks, just trying to settle my intinerary and need HELP! I will be in Manta from Feb 24-28, BUT there is only one flight to Quito that I can see on the 28th as we're leaving from Quito on March 1. Is it feasable to hire a driver to get back to Quito? I have no idea how far it is - I'm afraid if I don't book a flight now, it will be too late (may be already) not sure what to do. Any suggestions???
