Poland national drowns in Santa Marianita

On Thursday afternoon a 35 year old Polish man drowned while swimming at Playa Santa Marianita. Located 20 km from Manta, the victim was swimming in the late afternoon when a large wave took him out to sea. His girlfriend summoned the fire department but they were not able to locate the victim’ body. The fire department had to hault its search as the sea was rough and were to continue again tomorrow.
Riptides have been a particular problem the last several weeks.
