Hello Mark---I did see your recent and final posts on the Yahoo Forum as well as those by others involved. I was wondering if you could please give us a final cap and closure to the situation with the answer to one question--did the Swensons in fact refund your initial deposit money in full (minus the taxi charge) ? It would be good to know and see it written by you-- in Black and White! Your post was very good and perhaps you should repost it here on this forum also.

In my opinion, your deposit was not treated well, if they turned around and 're-sold' it, but was that done while they still had your deposit money? I think it would be a good idea to hear directly from you IF you in fact GOT all of the deposit money back! I am curious---what piece of document did you actually receive when you gave the deposit, or had it wired?
I know that you incurred other costs, emotional, physical, elimination of plans, etc. There really is alot of 'flipping' going on down here! Your advice to purchase directly from owner or at least get to know and speak with the local Ecuadorian people who have (legal) real estate agencies here was right on. Otavalo has two that are legal and on the up and up--they are good people. Only thing is, they just don't speak English or have on-line sites, you have to be there in person!
To the person who was asking about Salinas Real Estate, recently it was posted on the forum that an American lady, Amy Prisco from that area, just received her legal Ecuadorian Real Estate license for that Province.....also you should take a look at and post on Susan's Coastal forum. The coastal forum is a good idea because it hones in on a specific area...I am here in the Andes Mountains, so is Cuenca.

I am glad that everyone on the coast of Ecuador and elsewhere down here are alright. Ther was (is) a terrible terrible tragedy in Japan and my heart goes out to the people there also.
