Borojo Fruit

This fruit is very healthy. If you want to make an Ecuadorian laugh just ask were to find this. Excellent in a batido like everything else. Can be somewhat hard to find.
More common:
Granadillas, chirimoyas, Pitahayas, Uvilla, Tuna, & one of my favorites the orito (finger banana), various mangos, ect..

I noticed this last trip that supermaxi in Quito was selling many types of local dried fruit which I had not seen in the past. I was thinking about bring down a dehydrator. Anybody tried this yet? The uvillas were great, tart & looked like giant raisins. I brought back a whole suitcase of variuos dried fruit and it sure went fast.
This is from my wife & not a fruit.Big hit with the expats who did not know this was available to them until she cooked it: Melloco & haba tierna dish (it is in the vendors fridge at the local markets). Add melloco & haba, cook with corn (use the sierra sweet corn called choclo tierno & cook leaving on the cob), 1 golfball sized green onion with the stalk, season with salt, boil everything together until soft.
melloco looks like a small potato but it is not. Comes in 3 colors, serve dish with fresh cheese & can flavor with aji.
Let me know if an amature with a small, quality dehydrator can make a go of it.
(had to ad something positive to the forum after pickin on the poor real estate agents. I.m gettin all teary eyed just thinkin about it:)
