another newbie question - my wife an I are going to be there for a little over a month - hoping to find a house that we're comfortable with. we've spent a great many hours researching properties and agents - we are not so green as to join a group tour for an "unbiased" presentation.
HOWEVER, after contacting what i feel is a great number of people in the business, i find an alarming cross-section of responses, including some names that surprise me, wanting to be paid just to show us a house. i even asked one to give me the name of some car rental agencies in Manta (i was having great difficulty reserving on the internet) who declined to provide that information.
on the opposite end one well known developer has gone way over the top in friendliness, including locating a house for us to rent while we're there.
would someone on the forum be so kind as to explain the NORMAL, procedure of making contact with what's available, offering, acceptance. title assurance and lien protection, closing costs, agent's fees etc.
i realize this is a long request - so if anyone wants to respond privately or to keep this topic from inviting red-herring responses - my email is [email protected]
