The Expat Forum is turning into the Jerry Springer Show! When that terrible 'piece of entertainment' first came out many years ago, I saw it and could not believe my eyes. I do not know if it even still exists! But the sponsors loved it because people love to watch and be entertained by mud-slinging! So, the more mud and punches and insults that were hurled, the more the ratings went up. I think the same can be said pretty much about the Roman Games. The more blood and gore, hence the greater the attendence, and everyone involved in the games was a winner! For some reason, the human being sometimes is drawn to the sensational, the gory, the unnatural, the outrageous, and sometimes takes delight in watching and sometimes participating in these things.
People should keep occupied every day in a positive way. That is an important aspect of living here (or anywhere), even if it is just volunteering here with street kids informally on a park bench a few times a week, teaching them a few English words and learning a few Spanish words, yourself.
Even though this is an informational site for Living and Moving to Ecuador information, that might be too boring, even though I have written and read some very entertaining anecdotal "living in Ecuador" stories. Didn't a poster say that he liked to 'check out the Ecuador Forum' because it was "livelier" than the others, or something like that? The "Free Booby" and "Manta Rentals" threads are mean.
If someone was taken advantage of, and had proof of the man, Mr. Parker, then he should present it for others to see, and no 'mud-slinging' should ensue--one of the forum rules is not to insult! But that should not be a forum rule--it should be a human rule and should be the common sense base of a decent individual.
Information about someone who is taking advantage of another expat, in any way, should definitely be brought to light, but in the right way with all facts and proof present. One of my ideas for the forum would be to have a "Good Services--Bad Services" section, but with complete transparancy and proof, with all sides being heard if they wanted. It would also help good service providers to increase their business if they did well.
