Government to equip taxis, buses with GPS units

Ecuador plans on equipping yellow taxis, interprovincial buses and large trucks with GPS units. The government is going to incur the cost of 30 million dollars and owners are to pay for maintenance of the units. The bids are to be opened tomorrow and be in operation by July.

Hopefully, this will have some impact as a deterrent to crime and or help authorities if a vehicle has to be located.
