Another traveling with pet question

This has been expounded upon, but I have as yet been unable to find an answer to this and any help will be greatly appreciated. I am moving to Bahia in September, with 3 (or 4) pieces of luggage and my cat. I'm just trying to figure out if the smaller in-country flights will let me travel with all this luggage AND my cat. I've been told I will have to take a bus OR hire a driver from Quito or Guayaquil which is a long drive. Airlines are not getting back to me and I need to plan now. Anybody have experience on this? Also, I'd rather fly into Guayaquil than Quito but does anybody know the best way to go or a recommendation?
