According to the "Ecuador The Owners' Manual" published by International Living:
"A 9-I Pensioner Visa is for retired persons who receive a pension from their native countries (pension form a stable source of at least $800 per month). This includes Social Security or other goverment or private retirement sources, an annuity or income from a trust. In the case of a trust, the principal amount must be a minimim of $25,000."
I have two questions related to this visa:
1) Is it possible to legally work in Ecuador while having a 9-I Pensioner Visa?
2) Is it possible for a person with a 9-I Pensioner Visa to take advantage of the Duty-Free importation of Work-Equipment (along with the Household Goods) that according to information in the web page of the Aduana de Ecuador is offered to qualifying Foreigners that become Permanent Residents of Ecuador?
