airports open

Hi there,
Paul and I were trying to make reservations for a flight to Quito, but they aren't letting us do it. We heard there was an eruption of a volcano down in Chile that is spewing out ash and LAN is supposedly grounded in Ecuador. Does anyone know the status of this situatio?

Also, when bringing belongings down there, does one need to label each aind everything in a box, or can it be general...such as "Clothing" instead of "5 shirts, 6 pair of pants, 10 pair of socks" etc. Also, can we ship our booze down there? We don't drink a lot, but like to have all the varieties on hand for guests. Seems like somoone told us each box had to be labeled with EXACTLY what's in the box. So, if that's the case, I think we'll get rid of our bathroom medicine chest. Too many little items. I'm just afraid we won't be able to find what we need there because we won't know how to say it in spanish.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Diane and Paul Sullivan
