Ecuador Welcome Forum Moderator News

I was recently given moderator privileges for the Ecuador Welcome Forum (not the general Ecuador Forum) after complaining to the site owners about violations of the Welcome Forum guidelines. I am now monitoring the Welcome Forum to address any new violations of the guidelines to the best of my abilities and as time and the tools available to me allow. As a moderator, I can edit posts, delete posts, or delete threads. I cannot move posts to different threads or move threads to the general Ecuador Forum.

As a reminder, here are the Welcome Forum guidelines directly from the Forum Home Page. "If you're new to our Ecuador network, you'll note that discussions on our Ecuador Forum tend to get quite contentious. For some expats, this is the perfect place and manner in which to interact. Others would like a more pleasant place to exchange information and ideas about what it's like to live in Ecuador. The "Ecuador Welcome Forum" is for supportive, non-judgmental discussions."

I ask that you please keep "supportive" and "non-judgmental" at the forefront of your mind when posting (it goes without saying that posts should be Ecuador-centric). If, for example, someone posts a thread in the Welcome Forum asking for info on where to buy cigars in Ecuador, it is not appropriate to post a response criticizing that person's decision to smoke. Find an anti-smoking forum to participate in or send the original poster a non-abusive PM if you just HAVE to share your personal opinion on such a topic.

If you have any constructive comments on how I can better moderate the Welcome Forum, I welcome them (focus on the word CONSTRUCTIVE).

Lastly, to those who see shadows where there are none, I have no hidden agenda. My only goal is to reduce non-supportive and/or judgmental posts in the Welcome Forum in hopes of making it the useful tool for recent or soon-to-be expats that I know it can be.
