Cuenca: Gringo generosity

12 years ago
Hearts of Gold Foundation

“Where Cuenca's Expats contribute to the less-fortunate”

About the Organizations We Help

Currently, The Hearts of Gold Foundation is supporting three organizations.

* El ArenalFoundation
75 children (from ages 4-13) whose parents work as vendors at Markets around Cuenca.

* The Tadeo TorresOrphanage
This catholic orphanage has been running for over five years and currently serve 22 children from newborns to 5 years old who live at the center.

* El Hogar Miguel Leon
They are a non-profit, catholic-run home that house over 30 poor elder women, about 10 women with mental disabilities, 4 young female
orphans and 25 young girls between the ages of 5-14 who have come from abusive homes. The home’s objective is to contribute in improving the quality of life of high-risk and vulnerable groups in society. They have been offering a safe refuge for women since 1870.

(from a poster in Cuenca on Facebook:)

"I'm still a newcomer in El Centro and appreciate Hearts of Gold as an easy way to make a contribution in a new culture. I am especially proud of the recent generosity when they asked for contributions to deworm the kids in Paute. In one week Gringo voluntary contributions exceeded the amount asked for!

Now to help more kids attend the new school year.
