Need a short-term advocate for Immigration in Quito

Hi- We thought we were in pretty good shape arriving in Ecuador nearly a year ago, thru Guayaquil, with our 6 month 12-X visas stamped by the Ecuadorian consulate in Washington D.C., and all the (at that time) papers apostilled, etc. Ha-ha! To make a long story short, still no residency papers. To complicate matter, the last time we entered Ecuador, we came in through Quito. The man at customs made a mistake and stamped our passports as a T-3 Visa. We are now living in Cuenca. Our attorney here tells us that the ONLY way to correct this is to visit the office in Quito. Within the next two weeks. I'm pretty well acquainted with the office in Guayaquil, and know my way around there. I've never been to Quito, and no nothing about the inner workings or the correct building or offices up there. Can anyone recommend someone who could accompany us to the Quito office. We aren't ready to dump our current residency helping person, so we don't want to start over, but we could sure use some support from someone skilled at this who would accept us as a one-time (hopefully) client for help with this task. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. My Spanish is passable for everyday things, but when discussion turns complex, I get lost, so I could sure use the help. Our attorney claims we can fly into Quito in the morning, get this taken care of in a couple of hours, and fly back to Cuenca in the evening. A) Need some help in Quito B) What say ye--- book a flight to Cuenca the same evening, or book a hotel (I'll take suggestions on that, too) in Quito and fly out the next morning. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
