Ecuador President asking to ammend the constitution

Well, I think it's official and that Correa is actually doing what many predicted he would.

Ecuador President Rafael Correa is asking the country’s legislature to amend its constitution and allow for indefinite reelection, a measure that could strengthen his grip on power, the Wall Street Journalreports.

Correa initially said he would not run for another presidential term in 2017, but the amendment would allow him to do just that:

I'm not political. Sorry. Not even a little bit. However, the idea of Correa remaining in office sets my mind at ease. He is so pro- visitors, pro- expat retirees, so pro- tourist, (yes I know, definitely not pro-US) but he's straightened up immigration (much easier, less corruption),theres not nearly as many police road stops and shake downs, safer cars on the road, safer roads, buses and taxis with panic buttons, rest rooms that you might actually have the guts to enter, 911 calls that don't force you to depend on the local yocals for a response. Educational reforms. Tech improvements, Transparency in a country that's been tangled and rooted in family monarchs for a hundred years. It's astounding changes for such a short space of time. Anyone who has been in the country longer than 7 years knows the stabilization factor has been absolutely un comparable with anything in Ecuadors past. So. Yes, I miss my imports and yes, he's taxing everyone to death, and yes, he's still miffed about his pappy's past scuffles with the US, and yes, he's spending too much, yes he needs to focus on crime more and yes, he's still arrogant. But, he keeps Ec grounded. So. We'll be staying longer.
